4 out of 5 stars New Disc is Good   October 4, 2007

The new CD is good, though it sounds like all of their other stuff, I didn't notice the influence from the younger folks. The second disk - the live session is awful; throw it way use it as a coaster.

5 out of 5 stars America revisted   August 19, 2007

If your an old America fan that's curious about what they're doin' now-a-days this is the perfect place to start. A two CD set that starts with a near flawless studio set: everyone will choose what they feel are weak vs strong songs but all will agree it's overall a great album. The second CD is a live"Greatest Hits" of early America that even the most casual fan will love. This is a must have for all levels of America fans.

4 out of 5 stars Finally!   July 30, 2007

Wow. It's been almost 9 years since America released a new studio album (the last one was 1998's Human Nature).br /br /Well, time has not hurt them at all. What can I say? I've been following these guys for years and hardly anything they've done has let me down (except for a couple of DVDs, but I can overlook that).br /br /Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Beckley have lost NONE of their vocal talent. Their guitar playing and vocal harmonies fit together like a hand in a glove as they continue to paint pictures and tell stories through song.br /br /Check out "Indian Summer" and "Ride On". Both of these songs have the "classic America" feel to them. All of the songs on this album sound great, though some are better than others.br /br /The second disc disappoints me, though. How many times have I shelled out money to get copies of the same hits from way back when? Sheesh! I mean, I love "Sister Golden Hair", "A Horse With No Name", etc., etc., but I already have those on CD! Stop re-re-re-releasing them! I know this version is live from XM radio in 2005, but again, I've got those songs already! Live even!br /br /Enough ranting. Great album that's worth owning. br /br /Thanks, Dewey and Gerry, for the wonderful music through the years and the inspiration you've given me!br /br /And give that horse a name, already! How 'bout 'Fred"? Fred the horse. That'll do.br /

3 out of 5 stars Lackluster, but welcome   July 14, 2007

I sure hate to say anything negative about one of my favorite groups, as a new release is extremely welcome anticipated. I could have done without the live CD.br /br /I have to say I was disapppointed, although the melodies are tunes are classic America sound, my wife I agree that nothing caught our ear as "killer", hit material. Good background music, and wonderful for a rainy day, but I certainly wouldn't stack it in their Top 5 releases. Gerry sounds as if he's trying to take on a whiney, nasal alternate sound...not as soothing as he usually is. Dewey sounds the same as he did 30 years ago! Overall, it's good...sounds wonderful, but nothing spectacular and less than I expected. Nonetheless, I remain a huge AMERICA fan for life and will enjoy this CD.

3 out of 5 stars Anemic   June 8, 2007

You got to hand it to these guys for their persistance. I saw them in concert last year - A++++ really a good show, very professional. Unlike the concert, the new music is anemic. I listened to the CD over and over and the songs seem to belend in together - nothing stands out. Maybe they need to get Dan Peek to help write some songs, the magic was the 3 of them.
