This was a great read. Some of the things in this book I had forgotten about. I had a wonderful time reading it with my son.

5 out of 5 stars Very Good Book For Pre-Teen Boys! Highly Recommended!   December 12, 2008
We gave "The Dangerous Book for Boys" to my son (11) last year because he had friends who were reading it. It was one of the few reasonable things on his Christmas list and it seemed like a good gift for our academically minded boy who spends more time inside than outside. This was a huge hit! Not only did he love reading it, but I also really enjoyed most of the chapters as well.br /br /The book covers many things that boys would have learned in the past from their fathers or watching people work with their hands (knot tying, Star Gazing, First Aid, etc). Since we now live in a world where many of our "masculine" skills are no longer needed, where is boy to learn this things, if not from a book like this one? br /br /The book also includes sections on historical battles, the history of pirates, and even includes some sections on social graces and talking to girls. It really is something of an eclectic mix, but it does work out nicely.br /br /The book itself is well made and is very good looking. It should hold up well over time.br /br /We were happy to let our boy get his hands dirty and to stimulate his imagination! Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Requested by my 11 year old   December 7, 2008
Looks like a great book. Nephew loves it, son asked for it. Word-of-mouth advertising amongst kids says something for it!

5 out of 5 stars From boy to man   December 2, 2008

Having several tough young sporting nephews at the ripe ages nine to twelve, I bought this book. What a breath of fresh air. It's a inspirational book for young boys who love to indulge in games, projects, risk and adventures. When I ask about his days at school, I hear nothing but horror stories about the feminist teachers and school system which punishes and ridicules masculinity at every turn. The latest is banning kickball and dodgeball and RECESS outside, not to mention 40% of the boys are doped up on mind numbing Ritalin, while the girls are deemed normal.br /br /The Dangerous book is essential for fathers who want their boys to grow up into real men, fathers who have a tight family unit, and want zero confusion in a boys mind about the important value of being proud to be a man. This book is full of fun facts, stories, guy stuff, and all things that have a special appeal to boys.
