2 out of 5 stars Not for anyone with 2 left (or right) feet...   January 29, 2007

I have to dock this guide 2 stars just for its assertion that those who do the dancing, do the prancing. In other words, if you can't dance, or don't enjoy dancing, forget the whole thing?! Claustrophobic cultural elitism. (I didn't notice anything similar in the companion volume, "How to Meet the Right Man"). br /Docked one other star for being too mainstream. Other than these two bridge-outs, there's much good advice that mainly would assist those sincerely looking for bonafide relationships, but I feel it still isn't really aimed at everybody. br /

3 out of 5 stars PICK-UP STRATEGIES FOR MIDDLE-AGED SQUARES...   November 8, 2006

... this is the type of book that your grandmother would gift you with - you know you've time-warped back to Pleasantville when terms such as "singles mixer", "square dancing" and suggestions of cruising Sunday mass are bandied about.br /br /Authored by a couple of nooky-starved, pocket-protected professionals who decided to address their ineptitude with women with the same academic approach that earned them their engineering degrees, the tone is very polite, proper and oh-so-politically-correct (and with their female co-author chaperoning the proceedings as a third wheel, there's never any danger that our two fearless heroes might veer off into anything remotely risque).br /br /Bland and totally inoffensive, it's middle-of-the-road stuff that should prove somewhat helpful for conservative gents seeking reserved women of virtue that Mother would approve of... of course, it's never going to be confused with more adventurous, no-pants-romance tactics favored by seasoned pick-up artists, but white-picket-fence types who enjoy lawn bowling and attending church socials will consider it cutting-edge.

4 out of 5 stars OMG!   February 2, 2006

I came across this book in my husbands lunch pail. Does this mean he is looking for another woman--what am I to do? I'm not sure the answer to that question is in this book. The five steps sure do sound good, but...my husband is married already! To me! I look much better than that woman on the cover anyways. Thank you Mister Ratclift--homewrecker!

4 out of 5 stars A gold mine   March 1, 2005
9 out of 14 found this review helpful

This book is a gold mine of information on dating and meeting women. At the very least, you'll have a fun, quick, entertaining and cheap read even if you're not successful with its techniques. I suspect most will expect success though. I've yet to try any of these things and we'll see if they work, but it's a book you still should pick up for reference. Though I am always leery of these types of books anyway, you can usually tell whether it's BS by its price to readability ratio. In other words, the more expensive and longer the book it is, it usually turns out to be hogwash and very poorly written. In the case of "How to Meet the Right Woman", it's relatively inexpensive, short but packed with well-written and articulate information.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Plan   February 13, 2005

How To Meet the Right Woman by Roger Ratcliff is a well written book that cuts to the meat of the dating sceen from a man's point of view. Roger breaks down the mystery into a concrete five step plan that is very sensible. Throughout the book he applies those steps to meet women in singles bars, at the beach, on the ski lift, and at the airport. Some special tips are given to single dads. A special mention to all guys out there is to take dance lessons. The rational behind it is very sound as why wouldn't a lady be attracted to a man who knows how to handle himself on the dance floor.br /br /br /This book is very easy to read with some good charts that will help you get in touch with yourself and plan your approach better. Highly recommended on all levels.
