Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This authoritative book carefully examines the shifting terrain of educational policy and why now, more than ever, we must bring equity back to the center of educational reform. Drawn from recent empirical studies of critical issues in education policy, well-known scholars present new analyses of the current status of past reforms, such as desegregation, ability tracking, and affirmative action, and investigate more recent reforms, such high-stakes testing, vouchers, and charter schools. They also examine historical, economic, and political conditions that generate inequalities in educational opportunity.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars SOOOOOO boring   January 1, 2007
I had to read this book for my final class before earning my Master's degree and it was a very sad way to end my education. This book commits the cardinal sin of being extremely dull. The information it presents could be useful, but my classmates and I fell asleep everytime we opened the book, so I was never able to actually apply anything from this book to what I actually do in my classroom all day. br /Professors, if you're thinking of using this book in your classroom, please try to find a book that's a little more interesting.
