5 out of 5 stars Theory and Concepts in Qualitative Research   June 12, 2006
Theory and Concepts in Qualitative Research: Perspectives from the Field brings together a collection of essays that focuses on the roles and uses of theory in qualitative research and opens a much needed dialogue among researchers in the field. Contributors include Jenifer C. Greene, Louise M. Smith, and Howard S. Becker. The content of the book is organized into three parts. Part I, "Defining the Issues," provides a rationale for attending the theoretical concerns at the level of research practice. PartII, "Theory at Work," includes several personal accounts by researchers describing the influence of theory on their own work. Part III, "Theory in Perspective," rounds out contemporary views of theory and qualitative approaches: ethnographic, postmedern, feminist life history, and educational criticism.br /br /br /Theory and Concepts in Qualitative Research will serve as an excellent supplemental text in research methods courses and foundation courses. In addition, it will be useful to practicing researchers in education and other social sciences such as anthropology and sociology.br /---from book's back cover
