Product Description
Virgin River is abuzz with the news that a stranger bought the town's abandoned church on eBay. The buyer, a young widowed reverend, is a little like the building itself: in need of some loving care.

Noah Kincaid arrives ready to roll up his sleeves and revitalize his new purchase, but he's going to need some help. An ad in the local paper brings an improbable candidate his way.

"Pastor's assistant" is not a phrase that springs to mind when Noah meets brassy, beautiful Alicia Baldwin. With her colorful clothes and even more colorful past, Alicia needs a respectable job so she can regain custody of her children. Noah can't help but admire her spunk and determination, and she may just be the breath of fresh air he needs.

This unlikely duo may come from two different worlds, but they have more in common than anyone would have expected. And in Virgin River lasting happiness is never out of the question.

4 out of 5 stars New Preacher in Town   March 9, 2010
Nash Black (Jamestown, KY)

Noah Kincaid used his inheritance to purchase a church advertise on EBay. The old building had been board-up and stripped of its furnishing for years with the exception of a historical stained glass window.
Robyn Carr works her romantic magic in FORBIDDEN FALLS when Noah takes on refurbishing the old church, attracting parishioners, and understanding his assistant.
Ellie Baldwin did just about everything to provide for her two children until her ex-husband was able to use them as a weapon. A judge gave him custody for 90 days until Ellie can secure respectable employment. Noah Kincaid, the new preacher is her best bet, but will Noah survive a modern woman who cleans like a whirlwind in a push-up bra and blue fingernails coated in sparkles.
For all fans of Robyn, you know she delivers and for newcomers this is a romance with some reality.

5 out of 5 stars Very satisfying   March 9, 2010
Rushmore (CHICAGO, IL United States)
I am a big fan of this series, and this installment did not disapppoint. Two new characters are introduced: the new pastor Noah and the young woman Eliie with a past, whom he hires to be his assistant. Many of the familiar denizens of Virgin River also appear. All I can say is, I love this town more with every book, and I am so excited to read additional entries in the series. It is a good idea to read them in sequence just to follow the happenings in town and how they affect recurring characters, but it is also possible to enjoy each installment on its own merits. I will say (spoiler alert) that the budding romance between the pastor and his assistant has a certain ick factor, but it is really handled very well. This one brough me to tears a few times. When I just want to check out of my daily life for a few hours, nothing beats a Virgin River novel. It carries me away to a different world, and I know I'm going to enjoy myself there.

5 out of 5 stars Another great entree in the Virgin River series   March 6, 2010
Linda Holman (Chatsworth, CA United States)
Great book! I really love the Virgin River series and Robyn Carr novels. The main characters Noah, a widowed reverend and single mom, Alicia, and their budding friendship and then romance really kept my interest. The scenery is breathtaking, small town hospitality in the wilderness including redwoods, mountains, etc (the food always made me hungry, I wish I could cook like that)!

I really recommend this book as it is not too steamy and just darn good reading. I have truly enjoyed all the books in this series.

3 out of 5 stars Too Sweet   February 22, 2010
K. O. Sullivan (ireland)
Didn't think I'd say this when I first started reading this series but I think I'm done with Robyn Carr for awhile. This book was a bit of a sugar overload. Don't get me wrong, I love an upbeat positive story with a happy ending but I couldn't buy into everybodies wonderfulness and friendliness in this book. A stretch too far for me.

4 out of 5 stars Sweet, dramatic, and charming   February 17, 2010

I don't really care for romance novels. So I will try to review this from the mindset of someone who likes romance novels, just to be fair. If it's worth the mention, I did enjoy this novel regardless of my personal taste.

Ms. Carr writes about citizens of the tiny town of Virgin River, where all drama and passion seems to live. And yet it's all in remarkably good taste, lots of sweetness, charm, and family values. In this town is an abandoned church, finally purchased by new pastor Noah. He's not your typical preacher, and he hires the lovely Ellie, who is not your typical pastor's assistant. Still, he's a man of God and she's a single mother with a difficult life.

I found myself caught up in their story and the stories of their fellow citizens. Carr has a great knack for chemistry and her writing is funny, charming, and sincere.

I do want to point out that this is a romance novel, but if that is your genre of choice, this should certainly please.
