Product Description
PA companion to Robert Yin's highly successful textbook BCase Study Research: Design and Methods/B (B3rd Edition/B, 2003), BApplications of Case Study Research, Second Edition/B discusses numerous completed case studies on a variety of topics and includes examples using specific case study techniques and principles. The topics emphasize institutional and organizational phenomena, such as education, law enforcement, public health, economic development, and job training. From design to reporting, the applications identify and suggest solutions to problems commonly encountered when doing case studies./P PThis BSecond Edition/B includes several new cases and is reorganized into four parts: Part I looks at the role of theory in case studies, containing examples of exploratory, descriptive, and explanatory case studies. Part II investigates descriptive case studies, Part III considers explanatory case studies, and Part IV explores cross-case, or multiple-case, studies./P PBApplications of Case Study Research/B will prove invaluable to all students and researchers who employ case studies in a wide variety of disciplines./P

2 out of 5 stars Applications of Case Study Second Edition   November 7, 2008
I am a clinical psych. grad. trying to finish a case study dissertation. Also, an adult dignosed with ADHD and was looking for more help and structure. This book was somewhat helpful, but would have been more helpful for proposal than actual dissertation. Was looking for more help on dissertation structure. Wish I would have had this before I struggled with a proposal. But not so much help for dissertation.

5 out of 5 stars Robert Yin   October 25, 2008
This book was exceptional in explaining the basic tenets of case study research. In re-writing my methodology section of my dissertation, this book provided clear illustrations on how to go about case study research. Worth the read!!!

5 out of 5 stars A must-read for case researchers   March 20, 2008
If you only read one book about case research, buy this one together with R. K. Yin, Case Studie Research: Design and Methods (Beverly Hills, CA: Sage, 2002).br /

5 out of 5 stars A must for anyone using case studies   August 15, 2005

Everyone is telling stories through case studies but what do they mean. How can you tell a good case from a poor one? Yin does something that few people have done -- provide a strong academic explaination that is understandable to the business person. Too often strong academic concepts are explained in language that makes the less appealing and seem weak to business people.br /br /Yin's examination of the different types of case studies and study methods helps people understand what they are reading when the read a case study. br /br /This very accessible book is a must for researchers and those who want to understand what cases are and how to use them.
