Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Hubbard O'Brien is the only book that motivates students to learn economics through real business examples. The #1 question students of economics ask themselves is: "Why am I here, and will I ever use this"? Hubbard O'Brien answer this question by demonstrating that real businesses use economics to make real decisions daily. This is motivating to all students, whether they are business majors or not. All students can relate to businesses they encounter in their everyday lives. Whether they open an art studio, do social work, trade on Wall Street, work for the government, or bartend at the local pub, students will benefit from understanding the economic forces behind their work.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Great book   May 11, 2008

Easy to understand but still delves into complex concepts. I loved the examples that the author uses, so the point where sometimes when studying I would get distracted by anecdotes and start reading all the way through totally engrossed. It is very interesting. ...Too bad I screwed up the class anyways... took too many courses.

4 out of 5 stars Good Book, Bad Teacher   October 1, 2007

Right now I'm in a Macro Economics class, which very basic and easy. The problem is the teacher doesn't explain anything so we don't know what were doing when it comes time to take a quiz or a test. We had to buy this book for the class, which wouldn't be a big deal IF WE USED IT. He doesn't use or go by the book and it confuses the whole class. I have been figuring out what he is covering in class searching for it in the book and reading to teach myself. If I wanted to teach myself, I would never have dished out all the money I did for tuition!
