Tin, Louis-Georges, ed. "The Dictionary of Homophobia", translated by Marek Redburn.br /Arsenal Pulp, 2008.br /br /Finally Availablebr /br /Amos Lassenbr /br /"The Dictionary of Homophobia" has finally been translated into English and is now available. Seventy researches in fifteen countries provided research of this book that I first heard about two years ago. Edited, originally in French and translated by Marek Redburn, the book is encyclopedic in nature and it follows the history of homosexuality and the way different cultures have responded to it. It is indeed universal in that it covers all areas of the world, This is not only our history but it is a study of the political and cultural trends that have accompanied the history of homosexuality. This book is more than important and is extremely relevant.br /175 essays make up "The Dictionary of Homosexuality" and it contains information about the major aspects of gay life today. Topics include writings about homophobia and gay rights in all of the continents from the earliest periods through today, aspects of religion and theology in reference to homosexuality, historical happenings (the AIDS epidemic, the Stonewall riots, etc.) and pieces on the notable people (both positive and negative) who have had some kind of influence on GLBT history. Additionally there are entries on coming-out, gay marriage and adoption, and almost every topic that touches gay life.br /Extremely readable, this is also an excellent reference book that can be referred to over and over again and there is always something new that can be learned from it. If you add no other book to your library this year, this is the one to consider having. It is well written, easy to read, reasonably priced and will most definitely enlighten you.br /
