Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The infant management concepts presented in this book have found favor with over two million parents and twice as many contented babies. On Becoming Babywise brings hope to the tired and bewildered parents looking for an alternative to sleepless nights and fussy babies. The Babywise Parent Directed Feeding concept has enough structure to bring security and order to your baby's world, yet enough flexibility to give mom freedom to respond to any need at any time. It teaches parents how to lovingly guide their baby's day rather than be guided or enslaved to the infant's unknown needs. The information contained within On Becoming Babywise is loaded with success. Comprehensive breast-feeding follow-up surveys spanning three countries, of mothers using the PDF method verify that as a result of the PDF concepts, 88% breast-feed, compared to the national average of only 54% (from the National Center for Health Statistics). Of these breast-feeding mothers, 80% of them breast-feed exclusively without a formula complement. And while 70% of our mothers are still breast-feeding after six months, the national average encourage to follow demand feeding without any guidelines is only 20%. The mean average time of breast-feeding for PDF moms is 33 1/2 weeks, well above the national average. Over 50% of PDF mothers extend their breast-feeding toward and well into the first year. Added to these statistics is another critical factor. The average breast-fed PDF baby sleeps continuously through night seven to eight hours between weeks seven and nine. Healthy sleep in infants is analogous to healthy growth and development. Find out for yourself why a world of parents and pediatricians utilize the concepts found in On Becoming Babywise.

5 out of 5 stars Sleeping through the night   January 8, 2009
We read this book and followed the plan...Our baby girl was sleeping throught the night at 6 weeks...and before that pretty much only got up at her feeding times...br /br /Worked great for us...Not Tired with a 4 month old...

5 out of 5 stars Sleeping through the night at 10 weeks   January 7, 2009
I never followed the timed scheduel (e.g. 8a, 11a, 2a, 5a, 8p) but I used many of the principles and my child slept through the night at 10 weeks. Every other child I knew who was babywise from the Beginning slept through the night early. Just expect a lot of negative comments from other parents when you say "babywise" or "i let my child cry themselves to sleep." Good luck!

5 out of 5 stars You HAVE to get this book!   January 6, 2009
A friend gave me a copy of this book when I was pregnant with our first child. I read it and it just made sense to me. Just like the book said, my daughter slept through the night at 6 weeks old, and I constantly have people coming up to me telling me how happy and content she is! I now buy a copy of this book for anyone I know is pregnant! It is really wonderful!

5 out of 5 stars BabyWise Believer   January 4, 2009
We used the Babywise technique since my baby's third week. My milk supply is still in full - after 6 months. We took the teachings of the book and then applied it to fit our baby, along with common sense. She is thriving, doubled her birth weight, and is the happiest baby I have ever seen! It's been proven over and over - babies like routines! Not saying this will work for everyone, but it's worth a try!

1 out of 5 stars Shocked Amazon sells this still   December 31, 2008

Any book that advocates child neglect and abuse should NOT be sold by Amazon or ANY company, and I am shocked and disappointed that any parent could neglect their child by leaving them alone to cry themselves to sleep. br /br /Being a parent is a 24/7 job. A baby is not an inconvenience only to be parented from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. It is not spoiling, but LOVE, that makes a good parent tend to their child at 2 in the morning. It is not NATURAL for a new baby to sleep through the night - even adults don't do so.br /br /This book needs burned, and I will be contacting Amazon's buyers to question their judgement on promoting a book which advocates such abuse. This is unacceptable.
