Respectful parenting teaches thinking skills, develops maturity June 30, 2008

A child who is treated with great respect will treat others and the earth the same way. This book is a wonderful one for helping us as parents let go of our society's glamorizing of sassy snappy come-backs from both adults and children and helping parents provide the information and support our children need to grow and develop.br /The author advocates firmness, but this does NOT mean ruling over our children through punishment and fear. The author helps adults to understand their child's needs so they can respond to them appropriately-firmly, confidently, and most of all in a way that allows/requires the child to think and thus, mature - rather than his parents doing all the thinking for him. Highly recommended.
