5 out of 5 stars What a relief!   July 30, 2010
Shelley Allen
I was starting to get overwhelmed with my daughter when my sister told me about this book. I bought it but didn't get very far. It took me only a few months before I became DESPERATE! I have only a chapter left or so, but what I have used so far has WORKED. I am so excited to actually use all of these techniques together. Even though I am not perfect at these yet i have found that my daughter is even a little more forgiving and easier to handle! I am starting to have fun again!

4 out of 5 stars Worth a Read!   July 25, 2010
MamaK (USA)
I read through this book fairly quickly which is a huge plus for me. (I have two children under 4 at home.) I liked the format of the book. The "experiments" at the end of each chapter are very practical. I appreciate the goals of teaching children to take responsiblity for their actions and to learn to solve their own problems. I tend to react emotionally and the scripts in the book are especialy helpful for me to maintain my cool. Several of the strategies, such as giving the child lots of choices, are things that I already try to do. So this has been a good fit for us.

It seems like many of the negative reviews of this book say that it's not as good as the original, but I haven't read that one yet. Also, I am a big fan of attachment parenting, especially for babies. So everything I do is within that context. There were a couple things in the book that seemed a little too harsh, but I figure I'm not going to agree with any parenting book 100%. (You have to "check" any parenting advice against your own instincts!) Overall, I felt that this book had enough positive tips that I definitely recommend it.

So far it has not been "magic." Actually it is taking a lot of persistance and creativity on my part! Not a bad thing, but the title is perhaps a bit misleading. :)

5 out of 5 stars Great stuff!   July 20, 2010

This book is amazing and it was delivered exactly as promised. I recommend it to ANYONE!

5 out of 5 stars Great for parents who want children to learn HOW to make good choices   July 19, 2010
B. Hanson (Tigard, OR. USA)
This book is great for parents who want children to be independent and learn the process of making smart choices without compromising the goal of what needs to happen or be done. Two choices that are compatible with the goal that the parent decides.

5 out of 5 stars Life-saver!   July 13, 2010
Girly Girl (Little Rock, AR USA)
I bought this book after reading the multiple positive reviews from other parents. I have a very strong-willed child and was needing good strategies for working with her. I read this book, keeping in mind whether I thought it would work in my situation with my child. Everything I read sounded like it would be perfect so I started trying out the different strategies- WOW! I actually saw immediate results and now we have a much happier, easier to deal with child. It's been a miracle for us! I've since realized that the warnings/threats we constantly gave just fed into her behavior- now, one command and she's learned to follow through or consequences immediately follow (removal from activity/toy, etc.). She's also learned to clean her room after one request- just took mom 'cleaning' the room one time to learn how!
I liked it so much that I also bought the book, "Teaching with Love & Logic," since I'm an elementary teacher. I'm expecting some amazing results as well when school starts back. :)
I highly recommend this book- it's a quick, easy read, with easy to implement strategies for which you'll see results!
