1 out of 5 stars Amateur, not worth your money   November 26, 2008
After reading the other reviews, I was excited to purchase this book. It sounded like a fun/creative way to not just pick, but think about a name you had chosen. I got the book today, printed the return label to send it back, and will have it mailed back first thing in the morning. I only had to flip through it for a couple minutes to determine that it was not going to be useful to me at all. To be fair, I gave it another look, and it's not great.br /br /My initial thought was that it looked very amateur. It looked like I could have typed it on my own computer and had someone bind it for me. I looked at the publisher and noticed that it is virtualbookworm. Go there for yourself, (do a search online) and you will see that you can publish your own book. I'll give her credit for the ambition to publish her own book, but if anyone can do it, it doesn't mean that they are publishing quality materials.br /br /Here are my other complaints. The different sections are quite lacking. For example: the 20 sexiest names. It sounds like she came up with a flattering horoscope for each name. Also, famous people born on different days of the year. I went to my birthday to find one person listed. Since it's my birthday, I guess that I'm aware of more famous people born that day. The point is, it's an incomplete list. Then, you get to the lists of baby names. If you are looking for Hindu names, you're in luck. There are 6 1/2 pages. I'm not ragging on Hindu names, I'm sure they are beautiful, but if you want Irish, Scandinavian, Scottish, Italian, Anglo Saxon, etc. you get about a half page each. Not that I'm even looking at those groups of names, but I figure that there are probably more Americans looking for those names than Hindu. Also, the half page of names seemed like a random picking of names. Not particularly popular, or anything.br /br /Very disappointed. It may just not have been my preference, but I'm still surprised that it received 5 starts over 15 reviews. Part of me wonders if family and friends wrote the reviews. Again, no disrespect meant to the author, but as an excited mommy trying to pick out a name, it wasn't helpful. Being that it was one of the more expensive baby name books offered by Amazon, I expected more. Last thing, I noticed this shipped from Amazon's return center. I guess someone else felt the same way I did.

4 out of 5 stars A FUN, INTERESTING AND ENTERTAINING BOOK!   July 12, 2008

Well, I originally purchased this book for one of my nieces who was expecting; however, I have a new kitten, and I wanted to give him a unique name. His name is now Winston. My niece did choose a very, very, very unique name for their baby, but I'm not sure they found it in this book. Although, I really do think they did. 8] br /------------------------------------------------------br /br /SEPTEMBER 29, 2008 UPDATEbr /br /Well, another niece of mine is expecting in 2009, so I am purchasing this book again. I really do think you will find several names to choose from with the help of this book.

5 out of 5 stars Awsome Book!!!   January 7, 2007

This is one of the best book about baby names. There are very nice categories which help to choose the best name for you baby. I'm pregnant with my second child but I wish this book existed earlier because I could use it to name my first child as well. If you buy this book you won't need any other. I've bought many baby name books and when my husband saw that I have a new one he said "Oh, the next useless book about names.", but when he took a look at this book he said "Hmm, finally you got something worth to read". I can proudly say that my second baby will be named with a name from this book. I'm also planning to have more kids, so I won't need other book because I got the best here. So ladies, what I'm trying to say is that if you wonder which baby name book to buy, you should definitely buy this one! Recommendation from a happy family.

5 out of 5 stars The ultimate book of baby's names!   November 9, 2006

This was one of the most useful and interesting baby naming books I've read! This book is a jewel of a find! I've flipped through and purchased countless baby name books. This is BY FAR my favorite. It's perfectly organized, well-written, insightful and incredibly helpful. It goes into much more detail than the books that just list names. It includes thousands of names from all over the world with absolutely accurate meanings, most popular names, tips on names, first letter meanings, numerology and a lot of entertaining material. Other books I've seen just give you an alphabetical listing of names, the origins and it's specific meaning - how boring! It's really unique among all other baby name books. A great book for yourself to read as you select a name for your child or as a fun gift for expectant parents. I highly recommend it! br /br /br /I would have given it a 6+ if it was possible! +++++++br /

This book took the stress and indecision out of the baby name process and gives first class guidance in what is probably one of the most important decisions you'll ever make. br /br /Whatsmore far from being a task, this book was fun too. I looked forward to resuming where I left off.br /br /Its a big book and a sound investment in your baby's future. My baby is worth it and I'm glad I made it.
