5 out of 5 stars Great, yet easy read. Strongly recommend it!   November 9, 2008
This book was recommended to me by a dear friend...I bought it right away, but just finally got to it - why did I wait? This book is written in a way that makes it a very easy read - but even more important...very easy to apply to day-to-day living.br /br /This book was so "on the money" for me, that I bet I journaled about twenty-five scriptures that were referenced.br /br /I would highly recommend this book if you are interested in seeing how to approach living a more God-infused life. A lot to learn out of such a small paperback! Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars this book has changed my life   October 21, 2008
i used to stress about all kinds of things i had no control over and then a customer of mine led me to this book. it has changed my life! it allowed me to be able to place all my troubles on God and to trust him. it's a wonderful read

5 out of 5 stars A terrific primer on sanctification   October 18, 2008
One of my first seminary classes in Romania was on personal spirituality. The Pursuit of Holiness by Jerry Bridges was required reading.br /br /A few months ago, I attended a Men's Conference hosted by pastor Johnny Hunt. The Pursuit of Holiness was provided free-of-charge to every man in attendance. Reading the book a second time reminded me of why I enjoyed this book so much the first time.br /br /In The Pursuit of Holiness, Bridges exposes the myths that we so easily believe regarding our holiness.br /br /Isn't holiness God's job? Shouldn't I just let go and let God? In short, Bridges says, "No!" The Bible does not speak of holiness this way. br /br /I just can't seem to get "victory" over sin. Bridges' response? God calls us to obedience, not victory.br / br /At least the sins I commit aren't that bad. Bridges says we should stop justifying our sin and realize that little compromises lead to great downfalls. br /br /The Pursuit of Holiness is a helpful book on spiritual growth because it grounds our pursuit of holiness in the holiness of God himself. Do not expect a book of moralistic advice. Bridges' work is grounded in the gospel of Jesus Christ and the grace that comes from salvation. Rather than seeing free grace as a roadblock to holy living, he rightfully shows how the gospel is the driving force for a life of holiness.br /br /If you are looking for a book on personal holiness, pick up Jerry Bridges' classic work. He will encourage you, challenge you, comfort you, and then tell you: "God calls us to holiness. Now get on with it!"br /br /www.trevinwax.com

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Study   August 23, 2008
Jerry Bridges is insightful and penetrating in his writing. He is easy to understand and gets to the heart of the matter. I used this in conjunction with the companion study book. This really helped me put into action the principles he discusses. It's well worth your time.
