Product Description
In today#8217;s increasingly complicated world, it#8217;s often difficult for parents to connect with their daughters#8211;and especially so for fathers. In this unique and invaluable guide, Dr. Meg Meeker, a pediatrician with more than twenty years#8217; experience counseling girls, reveals that a young woman#8217;s relationship with her father is far more important than we#8217;ve ever realized. To become a strong, confident woman, a daughter needs her father#8217;s attention, protection, courage, and wisdom. Dr. Meeker shares the ten secrets every father needs to know in order to strengthen or rebuild bonds with his daughter and shape her life#8211;and his own#8211;for the better. Inside you#8217;ll discover:brbr#8226; the essential virtues of strong fathers#8211;and how to develop them br#8226; the cues daughters take from their dads on everything from self-respect to drugs, alcohol, and sexbr#8226; the truth about ground rules (girls do want them, despite their protests)br#8226; the importance of becoming a hero to your daughterbr#8226; the biggest mistake a dad can make#8211;and the ramificationsbr#8226; the fact that girls actually depend on their dads#8217; guidance into adulthoodbr#8226; steps fathers can follow to help daughters avoid disastrous decisions and mistakesbr#8226; ways in whichi /ia father#8217;s faith#8211;or lack thereof#8211;will influence his daughterbr#8226; essential communication strategies for different stages of a girl#8217;s lifebr#8226; true stories of #8220;prodigal daughters#8221;#8211;and how their fathers helped to bring them back brbrDads, you are far more powerful than you think#8211;and if you follow Dr. Meeker#8217;s advice, the rewards will be unmatched.brbr#8220;Reassuring and challenging . . . a helpful road map for concerned fathers [that] tackles difficult issues.#8221;bri#8211;National Review/ibrbr#8220;A touching, illuminating book that will prove valuable to all of us who are fortunate enough to have been blessed with daughters.#8221;br#8211;Michael Medved, nationally syndicated radio talk-show host, author of iRight Turns/ibrbr#8220;Dr. Meeker#8217;s conclusions are timely, relevant, and often deeply moving. No one interested in what girls experience growing up in our culture today#8211;and the impact that parents, especially fathers, have on the experience#8211;can afford to miss reading this book.#8221;br#8211;Armand M. 5 out of 5 stars Amazing book   January 6, 2009
My husband says this book has given him great insight for our daughters 11 and 15.

5 out of 5 stars Great book for my husband!   January 4, 2009
We've owned this book for over a year, since I bought the summary from ParentsDigest for my husband. I thought it would help my husband understand the importance of his role in our daughter's life - and I was right. He refers to it often, whenever he's feeling like he needs a pointer on how to help strengthen their relationship, or doubting the value of it as she grows older.

2 out of 5 stars Borrow it if you really want to - but don't buy it.   December 27, 2008

This book is okay but it is somewhat preachy. She states a lot of her opinions as fact. She does make some nice valid points but somewhat too conservative for everyone's taste. br /br /Overall it's a bit over rated. br /br /My husband wasn't too impressed either.

5 out of 5 stars Exceptional Book for Fathers   December 26, 2008
This book has helped me so much. I have two young daughters and now, I feel like I have a greater understanding of how to love them - even into the teenage years! It meant so much to me that I bought ten copies and gave them to my friends and relatives. Please buy this book for the special father in your life!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent book   December 12, 2008
The only book my husband has read, from cover to cover, in over 10 years. : )
