The item was not as pictured. Instead of a hard ergonomic plastic handle as shown in the picture I received a thick rubber hose drawn over metal framing. This made it very hard to get a good grip of the slingshot. Very disappointed. Shipping time was O.K.

Squirrel!!! November 18, 2009

Slingshots are cool. This one has an excellent design, since you can slip your hand through it and brace it solidly against your forearm to provide stability when shooting. I use it to shoot at squirrels and deer coming into my yard and causing damage - though I don't get too many shots off at the deer because a) they usually only come out a night and b) they bolt the second they hear anything amiss, like me sliding the door to my deck open. Deer are such p*ssies.

The squirrels are more arrogant though, and think they can sit in a tree and mock me. Ha! Once I start whizzing a few ball bearings or marbles in their direction they're off and running as fast as they can.

I'm not a very good shot, probably having hit my intended target at 50 yards (or so) maybe once or twice out of a couple of hundred shots. And at that range, you're not talking about a lethal shot, which isn't my intent anyway. But it's still fun to try, and still fun to get the little varmints to retreat, at least for a few minutes anyway.

I haven't tried shooting small rocks yet, out of concern that the rocks might eventually damage the sling, but now that I'm running out of the ball bearings and marbles I bought with the wrist rocket, I'll probably start doing that anyway. I had a bumper crop of acorns this year too, so maybe I'll give them a try as well. In any case, it looks like you can buy a replacement sling or two, or for that matter, at eight dollars a pop, I could probably just get another wrist rocket if I really needed to.

I suppose I could just let the dog stay out in the yard more to take care of squirrel/deer duty, but this is way more fun.

Original Wrist Rocket Slingshot - non-folding time. November 17, 2009

I bought this along with a folding marksman wrist rocket and a classic slingshot. This version was the hands down favorite among everyone that tried them including me. It is very simple and easy to shoot. I liked the width of the Y bars that hold the bands.

(Note, I bought the one that looks like it has a tube over the wires for the handle. They have the wrong picture showing on the review of a folding version.)

I bought this in order to have some low cost fun "plinking" at cans, bottles and random targets out in the yard and when I'm in the hills. I was very pleased with the cost, quality and performance of this slingshot. Best of all, I'm having a lot of fun with it, as are my wife and children. We are having so much fun in fact that I plan on getting a couple more so we can stop trading off when were out shooting at targets.

There is not a whole lot more to say, since the basics of this product are pretty plain. It's powerful and well constructed and a great value for the money.

With marbles its a good way o teach dogs not to bark excessively or get in the trash. Works OK on coons although they are hard to hit but not unexpectedly doesn't work on bears. Not recommended on children below the age of 13.
