Product Description
Most bed pillows don't support the head and the neck. The Original McKenzie® Cervical Roll provides necessary support to the cervical structures and maintains a natural curve of the cervical spine while one sleeps on the side or back. If you suffer from frequent episodes of neck pain; referred pain in the shoulders; nighttime neck problems; or morning pain or stiffness in the neck, your sleeping position may be at fault. Placed between a pillow and the pillowcase, the cervical roll is designed to work with most conventional pillows. It is affordable and portable, and it is not hot and uncomfortable or snug around the neck like a cervical night collar. Made of low density foam with a removable and washable cotton/polyester cover. Size is 3 1/2" in diameter x 20" long. The roll must be used with a very soft pillow (ie; feathers. According to Dr. McKenzie molded rubber or foam pillows should never be used if you have neck problems. This item cannot be returned if the plastic seal is broken. THE MCKENZIE APPROACH TO SPINAL CARE Robin McKenzie has devoted over 30 years developing a system of examination and treatment for non-specific spinal mechanical pain that has been recognized internationally and taught to thousands of clinicians worldwide. 4 out of 5 stars Good solution with one drawback   November 11, 2009

I've been using the more expensive pillow for over 17 years but switched to the McKenzie Roll for travel because of the reviews. While it worked almost as well as the pillow there is strong out-gassing which I found came from the cover not the foam. The problem is solved by washing the cover before use.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent neck support!   November 8, 2009

I purchased this on the recommendation of my rehab therapist to help with my headaches. I commonly wake up in the morning with a migraine and she thought it might help. It's been great! It slips into the pillow case with your regular pillow and supports your neck without shifting. I'm really glad I have it.

1 out of 5 stars Does Not Work Well   October 11, 2009
C. Richardville (Huntersville, NC United States)
I purchased the item due to the comments, yet when using while traveling it was too stiff and I ended up using a towel rolled up instead. The free towel was much more effective. When returning the item, it would cost me $6 for a $12 item, yet I believe that it was not effective as advertised. Use a towel, you will be much happier than dealing with the vendor !

5 out of 5 stars Can't sleep without it   September 30, 2009

This is a must-have for me, so I am ordering my second one. This cervical roll supports the neck and helps prevent the headaches I awake with otherwise. It is very well made, the entire thing stands up well to washing (air dry), and an added plus - it slips into any suitcase when traveling, so you're never without neck support! It is just the right size - other neck pillows are too large in diameter and push the cervical spine in the opposite direction, therefore accomplishing little. This pillow is much more practical and portable than a cervical roll pillow, which I had used for 25 years, and much less expensive. Eventually (after a year of steady use) the center of the pillow does compress - that's why I am ordering a new one. An excellent product for the purpose.

3 out of 5 stars 5 stars for support, 1 star for odor   August 1, 2009

This roll rates 5 stars for support and one star for odor. It has helped my neck, sleep and snoring. However, the odor was untolarable. I am guessing that the odor is an antibacterial chemical because it sort of smells like the antibacterials that are on sponges, only much stronger. Since it was right against my head while sleeping this was untolerable. After about an hour of ringing it out in hot soapy water it is fine. Since this item is suppose to help a person's health, manufacturers should consider that chemicals harm human tissues.
