Product Description
Most bed pillows don't support the head and the neck. The Original McKenzie® Cervical Roll provides necessary support to the cervical structures and maintains a natural curve of the cervical spine while one sleeps on the side or back. If you suffer from frequent episodes of neck pain; referred pain in the shoulders; nighttime neck problems; or morning pain or stiffness in the neck, your sleeping position may be at fault. Placed between a pillow and the pillowcase, the cervical roll is designed to work with most conventional pillows. It is affordable and portable, and it is not hot and uncomfortable or snug around the neck like a cervical night collar. Made of low density foam with a removable and washable cotton/polyester cover. Size is 3 1/2" in diameter x 20" long. The roll must be used with a very soft pillow (ie; feathers. According to Dr. McKenzie molded rubber or foam pillows should never be used if you have neck problems. This item cannot be returned if the plastic seal is broken. THE MCKENZIE APPROACH TO SPINAL CARE Robin McKenzie has devoted over 30 years developing a system of examination and treatment for non-specific spinal mechanical pain that has been recognized internationally and taught to thousands of clinicians worldwide. Among his accolades, Robin McKenzie is an Honorary Life member of the APTA, a member of the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine, a Fellow of the Society of Physiotherapists in New Zealand and the U.K. and has been awarded the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Her Majesty the Queen, for "services to Physiotherapy." 5 out of 5 stars Great product   July 24, 2010

The McKenzie Cervical Roll Neck Support is about as simple as it gets. Just insert it into your pillowcase on top of your existing pillow and you're set. I've been using this for years on the advice of an orthopedic doctor and have virtually eliminated neck problems.

2 out of 5 stars good but not great   July 13, 2010
Shopping mama
Purchased this after searching for a replacement of my Tempurpedic pillow which I have been a diehard fan until I noticed that the pillow started to have a shorter and shorter lifespan.(I have purchased several) When I first purchased it, the livespan was about 5 years, but that started dwindling down to 3, then 2 and ultimately, the last one I bought flattened out after one year. I missed that cervical neck support and chose this Mckenzie one. This product is a bit firm, not to my liking but did the job of support with some adjustment on where to place it, (my pillow is soft and its king size so this support moves). But after 9 months, this too is flattening out. I know, in comparison, this is a cheaper investment than the Tempurpedic (but I really wish manufacturers would stick with their original formula and not cut corners for the bottom line). I still use this product, but after writing this review, I think I will need to order a replacement. I am NOT in love with this product, but it's better to have support of some kind then of none. A rolled up towel is NOT the same thing. This has a bit of a 'bounce' kind of give whereas a rolled up towel doesn't. Two stars because: 1. this product didn't last long. 2. I have a king size pillow which I wish they made one for. 3. The cover for the roll is not removable for washing. 4. It's firm but not in the most comfortable way.

5 out of 5 stars EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED   May 27, 2010

First of all, I am using only this pillow, nothing else. I have trouble breathing at night. This pillow lifts my neck to a position where the air moves in & out freely. It is small so I can stick it in my suitcase when I travel. My neck feels great.

4 out of 5 stars Great solution for the Goldilocks of pillows   April 23, 2010
A. Boston (Boston, MA United States)
I ordered this in August 09 when I was just FED up. I had turned into the Goldilocks of pillows. I was buying new ones every month or two, spending way too much money in the process for pillows that were only helping for a short period of time.

In the past year or two, the neck pain just got ridiculous and I had finally traced it to pillow issues. I've tried foam pillows, down pillows, water pillows. It was starting to get silly watching me go on an overnight trip trying to lug my 30 pound pillow filled with water.

I figured, what's there to lose at this point? So I ordered this cervical roll, because my true issue was that any pillow under my neck compresses and flattens during the night. Finally, I have let go of buying pillow after pillow. I still have minor neck issues, but I attribute most of it to crappy posture at this point which I'm slowly trying to correct. Now, when I go away anywhere, I only have to take my little cervical roll and pop it in the pillowcase. Much easier, and I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

5 out of 5 stars Works great   April 2, 2010
nawlinsmom (New Orleans, LA United States)
Other neck support pillows were very uncomfortable to me because I'm so accustomed to sleeping on a down feather pillow and I sleep on my side. These types of foam pillows also were impossible to clean. I really like how I can just slip this neck roll into the pillowcase covering my down feather pillow and get the benefits of perfect support for my neck. This neck roll has even helped with my snoring, and slips perfectly into my suitcase for traveling.
