A leading researcher shares natural remedies for psoriasis

According to the National Psoriasis Foundation, at least seven million people in the U.S. and more than 100 million worldwide suffer from this chronic skin disease. This book outlines Dr. Pagano's natural, drug-free treatment regimen that can alleviate, control, and even heal psoriasis without steroid creams, tar baths, injections, or ultraviolet treatments. Healing Psoriasis outlines a healthy diet and lifestyle and includes case histories, photos, recipes, and a chapter on eczema.

John O. A. Pagano, DC (Englewood Cliffs, NJ), is a chiropractic physician who has conducted psoriasis research for more than 40 years. He has been a featured guest on CNBC, ABC, and Health Talk with Dr. Ronald Hoffman, and his work has been featured in Alternative Medicine and Dermatology Times. 5 out of 5 stars On the way to Healing Psoriasis   November 2, 2009
Mayank Minglani (Chicago, IL)
Hi All
I am Psoriasis victim from the time I was a young kid. I did try topical treatment, allopathy medicines, homeopathy medicines and what not, but flares never went away completely. Since I have Psoriasis on my feet I never really bothered much but about 4-5 months ago I decided to transform my lifestyle and thats when I got hold of this book. I read this book but never really followed much. But a month ago, I started making the lifestyle changes recommended in this book and within a month I can see the changes in my skin. My skin is healing than never before. Definitely recommend this book and for people who are ordering this books read the review of C. Spark, he definitely has some startup tips till the time you dont finish reading the book.

5 out of 5 stars amazing..buy the book   October 31, 2009

I'm from Malaysia and have suffered from psoriasis for 20 years. my wife was fed up with my skin problem and sat up 1 night for 7 hours to find a 'cure' on the Internet and finally was convinced to buy this book online. we got it shipped from the states and it came by Dec 08. By Jan 09 the book was full of dog-ears and outlines in the paragraphs. she took before photos of my condition and now I am happy to say that I am 80% clear.

the diet part is easy that's because i cheated and still achieved 80% success rate. i didn't do the teas as i couldn't find it here but boy did I drink lots of lemon juice. i have the occasional pizza but make up by drinking lots of lemon juice after to 'alkalise' the body.

the hardest part as predicted by pagano was the healing crisis (boy did it did occur) and it was aweful until I really wanted to give up but wifey nagged me to stick to it.

give the book a try. i tweaked a little here and there and still got the results. next year i plan to strive for 100% healing of the skin. i guess this time I will have to buy the teas online. whatever you do, just try to hang on till the healing crisis recovers. mine was 2-3 weeks. and do take before and after photos as i really didn't believe my wife when she said I was 50% healed until I saw the photos of the old me. good luck!

5 out of 5 stars MOST EXCELLENT INFORMATION - TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR OWN HEALTH!!!   August 26, 2009
Deborah D. Dumont (San Diego to the New Brave World)
Healing Psoriasis will probably heal more than the title describes! This is an excellent book for any individual that beleives that diet is the best medicine! A perfect companion to the "Fat Flush Plan" by Louise Ann Gittleman. I have incorporated just a few of the suggestions and the results are amazing - just amazing! Bring your own intelligence into action by reading this book & altering your LIFE. Thank God for John Pagano's contribution. The natural alternative presented seems simple but obviously not easy or a book would not be needed.

1 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY THIS BOOK UNLESS YOU LOVE FRUITS AND VEGGIES!   July 13, 2009

The book, has some great and expensive info inside, don't get me wrong. Now imagine being told that you could never eat all the foods you grew up on and have been eating all your life. Did you feel a little part of you die inside? He has had great results with SOME patients. I started off with all the faith, and followed everything the doctor says. I have had some results but not the kind I would like, which makes me very sad.

But you will have to spend money on teas, and drink them at certain times of the day. You will have to change your diet for the rest of your life, to 80% FRUITS AND VEGGIES. You can only drink WATER AND WATER ONLY!!! The other 20 percent is Fish, chicken or nuts. It is very hard and difficult to live by. Psoriasis clears very very slowly, but if you have something that is fore bitten, for example a fried foods, or pizza, your psoriasis will comeback within 2 days.

The doctor also wants you to stick things up your butt and clean your colon with flushes, and also tellS you to get spine adjustments. Don't get in to stressful situations. I have done 2 cleaning and lost about 5 pounds.

If you have nail and scalp psoriasis this is even harder, because of the treatments, soaking your hands and feet 20 mins a day,(then putting socks on your hands and feet for the rest of the nite) peanut and olive oil on the scalp. All this stuff adds up and is very costly especially the organic vegetables.

The doctor explains, that psoriasis are toxins coming from the holes in the intestines, and liver, because they have holes in them if you have acne, or psoriasis, which i do believe. (leaky gut)
The doctor does say this is not 100 percent and everyone won't be healed, but later on he saids the only ones that aren't healed are the ones that didn't stay just eating fruits and vegetables.
I recommend that you supplement, with natural supplements that heal the liver and clean the blood. Because if you have a lot of Psoriasis as I do you probably have liver damage and unclean blood. (your blood is like acid and thick from the food you eat.)The advice makes sense but it very hard to impossible to live buy.

I really hoped that this book would help me, but if just made me hungry and angry. NOW IF YOU CAN EAT FRUITS AND VEGGIES, AND LOTS OF FISH, AND WHEAT BREAD AND NUTS, WATER FOR REST OF YOUR LIFE, AND THATS IT, then buy the book, if not don't waste your time condemning yourself.

4 out of 5 stars attack of the killer tomatoes (and potatoesa and eggplant, and peppers, and tobacco, and a few more)   July 8, 2009

If you have psoriasis stop eating nightshades now! Doing that one thing has made my psoriasis go from red, itchy, scaly, painful, spreading, to flat and smooth and receding. Recently I went to a Panera resturant and had a bread bowl with brocolli chedddar soup, absolutely delicious. A day later my psoriasis was back to its' old self and when I checked their website to see the ingredients there were cayenne and paprika proving my nightshade allergy. Avoiding nightshades is a big pain in the butt, but slack off and your psoriasis will remind you. Also certain red food dyes (red #40, etc. . .) are made from peppers, so you have to avoid them also. Tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, tobacco, eggplant. Potato starch is in everything! Tomatoes are in everything, paprika is in everything. And the few things that don't have one of the above have food starch or spices or natural flavorings so you don't know if they have it or not. I did just find a mayonaise that has no paprika Trader Joe's organic.

The book itself is confusing and offer a thousand possibilities of why you might have psoriasis. However, it's defintely got some things right and I don't know of a better book on the subject (because psoriasis research leads to drug companies offering us drugs with side effects including death and cancer). It's nearly impossible to do everything it says, and even doing as much as you can will be hard, but food allergies of all kinds are hard. I've lived with psoriasis for 18 years (since I was 12) and that has been hard. So as tough as it is avoiding certain foods, it's easier than having psoriasis. Mine hasn't cleared yet, but I'm certain that it will eventually. Serious improvement, though. More than I've seen with anything else.

If nothing else wean yourself onto the diet slowly. If you're like me, you've had it for years, so if it takes you another couple years to clear, at least it's not getting worse. The book is worth buying. Give it a try. Leaving behind all those foods you love will be unpleasant, but when you see clearing and make a mistake and see the damned psorasis start coming back you'll realize just how much you love not having psorasis and you'll sacrfice those foods, not gladly, but you'll do it.
