Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Career Information, Career Counseling, and Career Developmentis a comprehensive, up-to-date text written by a leading expert in the field. This new edition contains a stronger emphasis on technology and on cross-cultural issues, and has an increased emphasis on application. As in previous editions career development theory, career information, career counseling practice, and career development programming are all covered in extensive detail. The text carefully describes the process of finding and securing jobs in an electronic era and presents students with the trends that are shaping the workplace today--and those that will continue to influence their careers over the next decade. However, this edition has a decided emphasis on multicultural career counseling. Also chapter on schools has been totally rewritten to correspond to the ASCA National Model.

2 out of 5 stars textbook review   September 25, 2008
Book is OK - I had to purchase it for a class. It could have been organized better by the publishers.

5 out of 5 stars Improved and Expanded 9th Edition   December 16, 2006

Now in its ninth edition, this book has become the standard of the field. It is intended to help those whose job it is to facilitate the career development process. This includes school, employment, career and rehabilitation counselors as well as other individuals who are influential in the career development process. br /br /The ninth edition has improvements in virtually all areas, the most important of which is that it now meets all Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) standards. Another area that has been expanded is the concept of a career that changes from time to time in the workers life. Based on chaos theory, this realizes that the outlook for particular jobs, particular careers change from time to time and in unpredictable ways. br /br /The strengths that this book brings to the subject in the form of the writing style and intellectual depth of the author remain; making this book both educational and entertaining.

Considering the vast topic this is a fairly good book. I found some of the data to be dated at this point and some what sexist.
