Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
In a concise, point-by-point format, Developmental Profiles: Pre-birth through Twelve, 5e outlines the major characteristics for each of the domains in child development. With coverage of developmental profiles expanded to include middle childhood, each section highlights the daily routines and patterns of children so readers understand the nature of development and can translate emerging skills into everyday behavior. Updated information about prenatal care and brain research is presented, and critical safety concerns are identified with suggestions for appropriate adult supervision at each developmental stage. Tips assist readers in promoting childrens curiosity and learning, and case studies improve understanding and allow readers relate the content to real-life situations. Web resources for professional organizations also provide additional information for further consideration of child development.

4 out of 5 stars Developmental Profile Overview   January 5, 2007

An easy read... The information is quite familiar, if you have read other materials on health, safety, development, and nutrition issues for young children. The enclosed CD-ROM provides real and practical examples of classroom settings, setup, and activities--based on age.

This is an excellent book for Early Childhood Educators. The book is easy to read and it covers before birth to 12 years of age. It has excellent resources.

4 out of 5 stars Helpful information   March 19, 2006

Although this book is a textbook I purchased it as a new parent for use as a guide to my daughter's development. While it does contain a great deal of useful information it doesn't go into significant detail about any particular phase of development but rather gives an overview of each stage, hitting the highlights. Nonetheless I would buy it again and think it was a good investment.

This book gives the basic expectations for the ages specified. The book breaks the developmental expectations down by age, and covers most developmental expectations such as physical and cognitive and social. This is a good beginners book or one to reference.br /br /HD Major, WSU
