Product Description
Though other skin-care experts have identified free radicals and cellular inflammation as key triggers to the breakdown of healthy skin, renowned dermatologist and former National Institutes of Health fellow Jeannette Graf, M.D., has discovered a way to prevent these saboteurs from developing in the first place#8212;rather than just treating the symptoms they#8217;ve caused.br brBased on the scientifically groundbreaking premise that our cells#8212;and consequently our skin#8212;can only function best when the pH balance of our body is at its proper level, Dr. Graf#8217;s four-part plan focuses on changing your body#8217;s ratio of acids to alkalines. Most of us tend to eat three acidic-building foods (like sugar, refined carbs, meat, and dairy) for every one alkalinizing food (dark green leafy vegetables, garlic, onions, olive oil, lemon, fruit, nuts and seeds, and whole grains)#8212;the reverse of the ideal ratio. And while changing your diet is important, food is not the only way to shift this ratio or reverse the cell aging that#8217;s affecting your skin. The plan also includes detailed information on:brbr#8226; daily alkalinizing #8220;cocktails#8221; br#8226; quality calcium-mineral supplementsbr#8226; probiotic supplements (good bacteria in a bottle)br#8226; how to assess your skin and care for it accordingly#8212;choosing the right cleansers, moisturizers, and treatments that will give you the most noticeable results (hint: many of these products line the shelves of your local drugstore) br#8226; the joy prescription: activities that can add exhilaration and laughter to your life and increase the neuropeptides in the brain that actually rejuvenate skin cellsbr#8226; nutrients in foods that enhance cell energy production and cell signalingbrbrBut don#8217;t just take her word for it: iStop Aging, Start Living /iis filled with testimonials from her patients. Whether you want to see results fast (with her twenty-four-hour kickstart plan), ease into it (with the two-week prescription), or just incorporate a few iStop Aging, Start Living/i strategies into your life as they suit you, you#8217;ll come away looking and feeling incredibly younger.

5 out of 5 stars It's a keeper!   April 7, 2008
I saw Jeanette on Fox news, and she looked so radiant, I just had to buy her book. I love it! It is so informtive! I have learned how important the PH balanace is in our bodies, and the great thing is.... it's so simple! You make a green drink with a couple of supplements and that's about it. Now I eat fruit for the PH alkaline effect, instead of the nutritional value. Jeanette made me feel like their is hope, to put the glow back into my skin, and feel healthy again. It is so easy, and honestly there are no big changes. A good way to lose weight without realizing it because the green drink has a very cleansing effect on our body. She explains it all in her book, and very well written for interest. Don't hesitate, it is well worth the money! Lynne Hansen

I thought this book was helpful in creating a plan to combat aging. It suggested some good products and raised awareness on how to treat our bodied as we age.

5 out of 5 stars Alkalinizing Cocktail alone is worth the book!   December 28, 2007

Dr. Graf has written a great book on how to look your best! I'm not sure it really "erases 5 years overnight," but I have been using the alkalinizing cocktail, fiber powder and probiotic supplement she recommends for a couple weeks now, and there's no question my skin looks better. What's more, I have more energy than usual, and there's a strange side-effect...when you wake up in the morning, your mouth tastes good (or mine does anyway). Not sure if that has something to do with making your body less acidic and more alkaline, but it's a nice plus!br /br /Anyway, I enjoyed reading the book and have found that her recommendations on supplements are spot on. (I haven't tried the skin care products she recommends, so I can't attest to those.)br /br /I would highly recommend the book to any woman wanting to slow down the aging process....or just look and feel her best! br /

Dr. Graf has been my dermatologist for many years. She is not only a dermatologist, but a doctor who takes your whole life into consideration and uses her scientific knowledge to help you. I was going through some "scary" health issues that none of my doctors could figure out. Dr. Graf took the "puzzle" of my life, put it together and found that the serious problem was in fact not serious, but something that could be fixed with concentrating on body wellness and healthy living. I have never felt better. It is only fitting that she write this book to reach out to others who don't have the luxury of coming to her practice. She is a true gem and a healer.

This book is an easy read---actually it is more like a conversation. Jeannette walks you through what it takes to rebuild yourself from within. I loved her book!!! br /We went to med school together years ago. Jeannette looks great and feels great because she practices what she preaches. Topical preparations have given me limited improvements. I am eager to challenge myself with her advice.
