I found that using this workbook along with my therapist to be the safest way to do it. It brings up a great deal of emotional baggage... and doing it alone can be scary. It will trigger you. br /But the outline is great.. from one step to another.br /I highly recommend this workbook.Understanding Self-Injury: A Workbook for Adults

I use this workbook to aid in my own recovery from Self Mutilation. It certainly helps to see patterns of behavior and to understand them. This would be great for anyone trying to recover from this debilitating addiction.

5 out of 5 stars Great   October 5, 2005

This workbook has helped me so much. It allows you to sort out and break down your feelings about SI. Working through it actually helped me to understand a lot about the reasons that I self-injure, which helps me to deal with the actual issues. It's completely nonjudgemental, but it does give alternatives to try based on the different ways you might use self-injury. I wish I could find another book as helpful as this.

Clear, concise, and nonjudgemental, with helpful exercises in examining and understanding self injury. A good way for self injurers to start examining and thinking about what they do, and a good source for professionals to get a feeling for what questions they could be asking, and ways that they can be more supportive and helpful. Low pressure, work at your own pace design, and useful even if using only certain sections or skipping sections one isn't prepared for yet.
