5 out of 5 stars Timely, Strategic, and Full of Substance. This is the real deal!   November 21, 2009
R. Curtis (Lake In The Hills, IL)
Web Analytics 2.0 is a cornucopia of web analytics best practices, case studies, resources, career insights, and tools. Author Avinash Kaushik tackles important and timely web analytics topics such as multivariate testing, competitive intelligence, measuring social media, tracking mobile customer experiences, data mining, and mapping offline activites to online efforts. This isn't just a fluff book that talks about the importance of these topics. Specific tools and approaches to tackling the measurement and analysis of these topics are demonstrated. Avinash effectively uses great visuals to introduce his readers to new tools and to explain some complex concepts. This book comes with a CD loaded with excel spreadsheets, powerpoint presentations, videos, and podcasts to further advance the reader's knowledge and preparation for success in web analytics. Small businesses, non-profit organizations, personal blogs, and global corporations can all benefit from the tools and techniques that are covered in this book. I would consider this book to be complimentary both to Avinash's 1st book (Web Analytics: An Hour A Day) and to his web analytics blog, Occam's Razor. Want to be successful at web analytics? Buy this book and absorb it's wealth of knowledge.

5 out of 5 stars A must read for the young and the old (in the field of Web Analytics)   November 20, 2009
Ned Kumar (Memphis, TN USA)
It is easy to write a positive review for a book when you are constantly nodding at the content as you leaf through the pages. Avinash's second book (his previous book was Web Analytics: An Hour a Day) exceeds the expectations I had after reading his first book. Both his books are easy to read and comprehend, logical, and takes the reader through the complex world of analytics through step by step.

What I really like about Web Analytics 2.0 is how Avinash starts out with the topic of selecting a vendor (you cannot analyze unless you have the data) to the next level on analyzing clickstream to analyzing qualitative data to competitive analysis and testing and to the more complicated areas of social media, mobile, and video analytics. The flow and language is excellent and a reader will not have trouble assimilating the concepts -- it is almost like Avinash is having a chat with you on these topics.

To cap off the discussions on analytics, Avinash goes on to offer wonderful advice on how to become an Analysis Ninja. I can tell from experience (been a student of his for years now) that you cannot -- repeat cannot -- find a better Sensei than Avinash to make you a black belt in web analytics.

Overall, this is an excellent book on web analytics that is holistic in its coverage, simple to read (in terms of language and flow), and a great source for tons and tons of useful information that you can apply. It is definitely an excellent read for anyone in the field -- irrespective of whether you are a novice or a beginner.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best books i've ever read   November 19, 2009
Fernando Gavarron Correas (Barcelona, Spain)
Avinash explains in a very clear and easy to understand way all the concepts you need to get the most of your metrics, a must have for everyone who wants to understand web metrics.

5 out of 5 stars With all your data gathering, get understanding   November 19, 2009
J. Floyd (Woodinville, WA United States)
Many business complain about being awash in data. They have too much information to comprehend and act upon effectively. Avinash Kaushik's new book helps you become awash in understanding by helping businesses plan what to measure and how to act upon the information effectively. Read this book, carefully, follow Avinash's excellent web analytics blog, "Occam's Razor", and attend as many of his webinars as you can. As a result, you will truly be able to apply the maxim from Proverbs 4 to your web presences, "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding."

5 out of 5 stars Beautifully written - practical, understandable, & expert   November 18, 2009
Rhode Island Reader (Rhode Island United States)

Most books about Web analytics are either too dry, too geeky, or too hypey. I dutifully plow through a chapter or two and then the book hits the discard pile. But, Avinash is completely different sort of writer!

This book has the same friendly, truthful, useful advice that has made Avinash's Occam's Razor blog so popular. I feel like I have a friend at my side, instead of a boring geek or pushy salesman. The illustrations are dead-on perfect as well. Many feature real-life stats from Avinash's own projects. It's useful to see these examples. They bring the text to life.

I recommend this book to all fans of Web analytics, but also to everyday marketers who may not be very technically inclined. I can see how this would also be a useful training tool. If you're a marketing or Web department director, you can hand a copy of this book to new hires and tell them, "Read this first and come see me when you're done."
