2 out of 5 stars Doesn't deliver on its promise.   October 16, 2009
A reader. (Chicago)

The way I see it, the title of a book is a promise to a prospective reader. This book does not deliver on its promise: "secrets to blogging your way to a 6-figure income."

If it had been titled, "Getting started with blogging from two guys who know their stuff", that would have been more fitting.

The book really is a good book. But it's *very* entry-level. For example, the first 76 pages of the 211-page book will be irrelevant if you've already started blogging. (They cover things such as how to set up a blog, how to choose a topic for a blog, and so on.)

Again, a good introductory book. But absolutely no "secrets" here.

5 out of 5 stars lots of ways to make money with blogs   October 14, 2009

I first found out about ProBlogger through (what else!) their blog. While I'm not making the six-figures the book says is possible, it has certainly opened my eyes to the possibilities of making money online. I got a lot of really great ideas from this book, some of which I was able to implement within hours (or even minutes). Beyond that, my entire outlook on blogging changed because of it.

If you are somebody who enjoys writing, you will benefit from this book. It has lots of tips on how to monetize your blog and how to get your material read.

5 out of 5 stars How to Become A Professional Blogger   October 10, 2009

ProBlogger is great for those that are new to blogging, existing bloggers looking for new ideas and ways to improve their blog, and for bloggers looking on how to directly and indirectly generate revenue. The authors highlight several top blogs and point out the various techniques they use to achieve their goals and how each of these differ in purpose and execution. Throughout the text are URLs for sites and tools which are helpful for gathering ideas, examining website/blog metrics, and blog setup and design. Chapter coverage includes how to quickly setup a blog using Wordpress, discussing tradeoffs between single blogs versus blog networks, generating direct and indirect profits, ways to promote your blog, search engine optimization, methods of increasing and maintaining readership, tips for generating good content, and even how to buy and sell blog sites as if the were real estate. The text is not only complete but very easy to read. I highly recommend ProBlogger.

4 out of 5 stars Must Read For Those Interested In Blogging   October 3, 2009
John R. Sedivy (Cape Cod, MA)
When finishing PROBLOGGER I was a little over two months into my first blog. There are many items in this book that I would have found useful on day one, unfortunately those lessons were learned the hard way! On the other hand, there were many topics that I was unaware of, and as a result I had learned quite a bit from this book - therefore I highly recommend it for beginner, intermediate, and experienced bloggers alike. I particularly enjoyed the aspect that it was written by two experienced bloggers, therefore offering two different, yet complementary viewpoints. In addition there are a wide array of topics covered from setting up a blog to monetization and flipping a blog. The price is a bit high for a paperback - $24.99, however given the content and the value offered from the book I believe the price of admission worthwhile.

5 out of 5 stars From Mommy Blog to Money Blog!   September 21, 2009

After reading this book I turned my "Mommy Blog" into a professional blog that now generates 41% of my sales for my online business. The methods were easy to follow and quick to implement. I was amazed at how fast I saw results, in just 30 days I increased my sales. Today, I get more sales from my blog than I do from all other sources. The book is excellent for anyone who intends to make money blogging. Highly recommended.
