Product Description

With nearly three million Americans undergoing cataract surgery annually this survey is essential for those anticipating the procedure. This handbook covers the most frequently asked questions, such as What type of new lens is implanted in the eye? What type of anesthesia is used? Is there pain after the surgery? and How soon will vision improve? A photographic outline illustrating how cataracts are removed and how new intraocular lenses are implanted is also included.

5 out of 5 stars This book literally saved my vision. Thank you!   September 22, 2009

I have always had vision in one eye only because I was born with a lazy eye. When I developed a cataract in my only eye due to chemotherapy and steroids (i have end stage cancer) I was very concerned. One of my lungs is completely gone because of the cancer and the other lung is 3/4 full of cancer fluid. I'm on oxygen 24/7 but still have very low oxygen level in the blood. You see, all of these complications that I have make me a very high risk patient for cataract surgery. I was going blind and most eye surgeons didn't want to touch me. I want to enjoy and live my life, even if I have just a few months left. Life has been very painful with having cancer and being blind would kill me much sooner. I purchased this book and it gave me great knowledge about the eye condition I had developed. It was worth it for me to have my family drive me 2 hours to see Dr. Devgan. If I hadn't read this wonderful book, I might not have found the true expert in cataract surgery. Dr. Devgan saved my vision, and gave me a reason to enjoy life.

This book is a must read for anyone considering cataract surgery. The book is simple and easy to read and can be read cover to cover in about an hour. I learned so much and I'm so glad. I opted to get the very best lens implanted in my eye and it has given me back my youthful vision. I recommend this book to anyone who has been diagnosed with cataracts or is considering cataract surgery.

The easy to read guide lets a prospective patient for cataract surgery learn what to expect from the process. It is a reassuring guide for those who might be anxious about any surgery in general and eye surgery in particular. The illustrations give useful information and the writing is easy to understand. Recommended for anyone who is considering this operation.
