Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
DIVReferred to as the "Grand Prix of epidemiology" by IThe New York Times/I, this study examines more than 350 variables of health and nutrition with surveys from 6,500 adults in more than 2,500 counties across China and Taiwan, and conclusively demonstrates the link between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. While revealing that proper nutrition can have a dramatic effect on reducing and reversing these ailments as well as curbing obesity, this text calls into question the practices of many of the current dietary programs, such as the Atkins diet, that are widely popular in the West. The politics of nutrition and the impact of special interest groups in the creation and dissemination of public information are also discussed.BR/DIV

5 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY PHENOMINAL!!! UPSETTING!?   January 3, 2009
2 out of 4 found this review helpful

Truly amazing that so much can be gained by means that seem so simple and inexpensive, yet truths continue to be distorted...no, flat out hidden from the public and sacrificing our health for financial gain. Incredibly upsetting that we lose so many loved ones due to something we've been taught to expect and accept as inevitable(heart disease cancer)when all the while these things are for the most part easily controllable. The principles in this book should be taught early on in grade school instead of the system of "American Excess" which we currently subscribe to!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Vital reading for every American   December 29, 2008

This is essential reading for anyone with even the slightest interest in good health. Even a modest following of recommendations is bound to improve health status. Is is also important to understand what forces (Food and medical Industry, government agencies etc) "paint" information fed to us. One needs to be ones own advocate.

5 out of 5 stars The China Study   December 28, 2008

This book contains more research proven information on diet and health than any other book. It is a real eye opener for information that is generally not known or accepted by the general public. Don't read the book if you are not ready for the truth.

5 out of 5 stars The China Study   December 24, 2008

This, in my opinion, is the absolute TRUTH about nutrition.br /It will blow your mind. Food-isms that you have believed allbr /your life will be shattered. After "The China Study," it isbr /difficult to put another bite of meat, egg, or dairy in yourbr /mouth. Now I am vegan, and will never go back.

5 out of 5 stars Dairy literally CAUSES cancer.   December 23, 2008
2 out of 5 found this review helpful

The China Study makes a compelling case against dairy. Dairy literally CAUSES cancer. Read the book to find out how and why.br /br /The diet suggested in The China Study is NOT vegetarian or vegan. It recommends some small amounts of fish.br /br /On page 243 it lays out the specific diet that will improve your health and prevent diseases of affluence like cancer, diabetes, heart disease and the like. br /br /The book recommends that you:br /a) eat all you want of a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and whole grainsbr /b) minimize: amounts of refined carbs, oils, and fishbr /c) avoid: meat, poultry, dairy or eggsbr /br /It's basically a "flexitarian" diet where you eat like a vegetarian/ vegan most of the time but occasionally eat very small amounts of fish and other animal products.br /br /
